JUST IN : New Development Proposals Revealed for Site of Iconic Former Oldham Nightclub
Plans have been unveiled for a new development on the site of a once-legendary Oldham nightclub, stirring both nostalgia and interest among local residents. The former venue, which played a central role in the town’s nightlife for decades, is now set to be transformed into a modern multi-use space, following years of speculation over its future.
Developers have submitted proposals to Oldham Council that would see the disused site brought back to life with a mix of residential and commercial units. The vision includes the construction of high-quality apartments, retail units on the ground floor, and landscaped public spaces designed to connect with the wider town centre regeneration plans.

According to the developers, the project aims to “respect the legacy of the site” while addressing the growing need for affordable housing and improved local amenities. “We’re aware of the fond memories many people have of this venue,” said a spokesperson. “Our plans are about blending Oldham’s rich history with its bright future.”
The proposal also includes eco-friendly design features, such as energy-efficient heating systems, sustainable building materials, and improved pedestrian and cycle access. Community feedback sessions are scheduled to take place in the coming weeks, giving residents a chance to voice their opinions and contribute to shaping the final design.
While some locals have expressed sadness at the permanent loss of the iconic venue, others have welcomed the fresh start. “It’s bittersweet,” said one long-time resident. “That club was a big part of my youth, but I’d rather see something useful than let it sit empty and forgotten.”
The project is part of a broader effort by Oldham Council to breathe new life into underused urban spaces. If planning approval is granted, construction is expected to begin in early 2026.As Oldham continues to evolve, the transformation of this once-iconic site marks a symbolic step forward—balancing memories of the past with hopes for a revitalised future.
