Neraysho Kasanwirjo Bids Farewell to Rangers After Injury-Hit Loan Spell
Dutch defender Neraysho Kasanwirjo has penned a heartfelt farewell message to Rangers and their supporters as his loan spell from Feyenoord officially comes to an end. The 22-year-old joined the Ibrox side on a season-long loan in 2023, but his time in Glasgow was unfortunately disrupted by a series of injuries that limited his impact on the pitch.
Kasanwirjo, a versatile player capable of operating in central defense or as a right-back, arrived at Rangers with high hopes of contributing to the club’s domestic and European campaigns. However, after a promising start in training, injuries quickly derailed his progress. The Dutch youth international made only a handful of appearances before being sidelined for extended periods.
Taking to social media, Kasanwirjo expressed his gratitude to the club and its fans despite the challenges he faced during his time in Scotland.
> โItโs not the way I imagined this loan would go, but I want to thank Rangers Football Club and all the fans for the support during my time here,โ he wrote. โInjuries are part of football, but itโs still frustrating when you canโt help your teammates on the pitch. Iโve learned a lot during this time and Iโll take these lessons with me into the next chapter.โ
> โTo my teammates, the coaching staff, and everyone behind the scenes โ thank you for welcoming me and helping me through a difficult season. Iโll always be grateful for the experience of playing for a club with such history and passion.โ
Rangers fans had hoped Kasanwirjo would become a reliable option in the backline, especially during a season where defensive depth was tested. Though his time on the field was limited, his attitude and professionalism earned praise within the club.
Kasanwirjo is set to return to Feyenoord this summer, where he will look to rebuild his fitness and compete for a place in the Eredivisie sideโs plans. Despite the setback, the young defender remains optimistic about the future.
Rangers, meanwhile, are expected to make several moves in the transfer window to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. While Kasanwirjoโs stint didnโt go as planned, he leaves with the respect of many around the club.
His farewell underlines the often-unpredictable nature of football careersโand serves as a reminder that even in adversity, character and resilience shine through.
