BREAKING NEWS: Rangers are presently in negotiations to appoint a Scandinavian manager following Patrick Stewart’s update.

Rangers are presently in negotiations to appoint Brian Priske, a Scandinavian manager following Patrick Stewart’s update.

Rangers Football Club is actively pursuing the appointment of Danish manager Brian Priske as their next head coach, following the departure of Philippe Clement earlier this year. The club’s CEO, Patrick Stewart, has been leading the search for a permanent successor, with Priske emerging as a strong candidate.

Priske, 48, boasts a diverse managerial résumé, including successful stints at Midtjylland, Royal Antwerp, Sparta Prague, and most recently, Feyenoord. During his time at Sparta Prague, he led the team to consecutive Czech First League titles in 2022–23 and 2023–24, as well as a Czech Cup victory. His tenure at Feyenoord was marked by notable Champions League performances, such as a remarkable 3–3 comeback draw against Manchester City and a 3–0 victory over Bayern Munich. However, inconsistent domestic results led to his dismissal in February 2025.

Rangers’ interest in Priske aligns with Stewart’s broader vision for restructuring the club’s football operations. Since his appointment as CEO in December 2024, Stewart has emphasized the need for significant changes, including the introduction of a new decision-making structure that grants senior executives greater autonomy in day-to-day operations. The club has also clarified the distinct roles of technical and sporting directors, aiming to enhance recruitment, squad management, and overall football strategy.

While Priske is a leading contender, he is among several candidates under consideration. Reports suggest that Real Madrid assistant coach Davide Ancelotti is also in the running, with some sources indicating he is close to accepting the position. Other names linked to the role include former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard and Southampton’s Russell Martin.

As Rangers continue their search for a new manager, the club’s leadership remains focused on implementing a comprehensive football review to address underlying issues and set a clear direction for the future. The appointment of a new head coach will be a critical step in this ongoing process.
