Brian Priske Emerges as Contender for Rangers Managerial Role

Rangers Football Club’s search for a new manager continues, with Danish coach Brian Priske reportedly entering discussions with the Ibrox hierarchy. Priske, who most recently managed Feyenoord, is among several candidates being considered to succeed Philippe Clement, who was dismissed in February following a series of disappointing results .

Priske’s managerial career began in 2019 at FC Midtjylland, where he led the team to a Danish Superliga title in his first season. He then managed Royal Antwerp in Belgium before taking over at Sparta Prague in 2022. Under his guidance, Sparta Prague clinched their first Czech First League title in nine years and secured back-to-back championships by May 2024 .

In June 2024, Priske was appointed head coach of Feyenoord. Despite notable Champions League performances, including a 3–3 comeback draw against Manchester City and a 3–0 victory over Bayern Munich, his tenure was marred by inconsistent domestic results. Feyenoord parted ways with Priske in February 2025, citing a lack of chemistry and structural progress .

Priske’s connection to Rangers dates back to 2019 when, as assistant manager at Midtjylland, he witnessed his team eliminated from the Europa League by the Scottish side. This defeat led to the resignation of head coach Kenneth Andersen, paving the way for Priske’s promotion to the managerial role .

While Priske is a strong candidate, other names linked to the Rangers vacancy include former manager Steven Gerrard and Real Madrid assistant Davide Ancelotti. Gerrard, who led Rangers to a Scottish Premiership title in 2021, is currently the bookmakers’ favorite to return to the club .

As Rangers aim to rebuild and challenge for domestic and European honors, the appointment of a new manager is crucial. The club’s leadership is expected to make a decision in the coming weeks, with Priske’s international experience and track record making him a compelling option for the Ibrox hot seat.
