Texas Tech is strengthening its special teams unit with a significant addition: transfer kicker/punter Ian Hershey has officially committed to join the Red Raiders for the upcoming season.
Hershey, who previously played for the Boise State Broncos, entered the transfer portal earlier this offseason and quickly drew interest due to his consistent leg and versatility. Known for both his punting power and kicking accuracy, Hershey brings immediate depth and experience to a Texas Tech special teams group looking to raise its consistency.
In his time at Boise State, Hershey showed a strong leg, hitting several clutch field goals and averaging solid yardage on punts. His freshman campaign included a game-winner against Utah State and a career-long field goal of 51 yards.
