Cowboys’ New Duo: CeeDee Lamb Welcomes George Pickens with Open Arms
FRISCO, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys are gearing up for a new-look offense in 2025, and one of the most buzzworthy additions is wide receiver George Pickens. Acquired in a surprise trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier this month, Pickens joins an already dynamic offense led by quarterback Dak Prescott and All-Pro wideout CeeDee Lamb.

The trade marked a dramatic end to Pickens’ tumultuous three-year stint in Pittsburgh. Known for his explosive talent as well as his controversial on-field antics, Pickens’ time with the Steelers was marred by penalties, reported friction with head coach Mike Tomlin, and off-field distractions. Despite that, his on-field production was undeniable — leading Pittsburgh in targets last season with 103, and finishing with 59 receptions for 900 yards.
Understandably, some Cowboys fans expressed concern over how Pickens would fit in alongside Lamb, the team’s undisputed WR1. But any rumors of tension were squashed over the weekend when both receivers appeared together at Kyler Murray’s celebrity softball game in Arizona.
“We both ones,” Lamb said confidently to a reporter, standing next to Pickens. “It ain’t no A, B, none of that. You look over there, you see one. You look over here, you see another one. So do what you gotta do with that.”
Lamb’s comments, meant to highlight the equality and potential of the new receiver duo, quickly went viral across social media. Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons even jumped into the conversation, joking on X, “Ceeedee done found a new best friend.”
Pickens, despite his history, brings a skillset that could prove to be the perfect complement to Lamb. At 6’3″, he offers a large catch radius and thrives on contested balls downfield, making him a true deep threat — a dimension the Cowboys have sought to strengthen. Meanwhile, Lamb continues to be one of the NFL’s most complete receivers, coming off a fourth straight 1,000-yard season and Pro Bowl appearance.
While Lamb’s resume gives him the edge in terms of reliability and consistency, his open-armed welcome of Pickens may be just what the former Steeler needs to hit his stride in a new environment.
As training camp approaches, the big question remains: will this dynamic duo elevate the Cowboys’ offense, or will sparks fly for the wrong reasons? Either way, all eyes will be on Dallas this fall.
