BREAKING NEWS: Caleb Williams’ Father Drops Bombshell About Attempt to Avoid Chicago Bears
In a stunning revelation, Carl Williams, father and business manager of Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, disclosed that the family took serious steps to prevent Caleb from being drafted by the Bears in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The revelations come from Seth Wickersham’s upcoming book American Kings: A Biography of the Quarterback. In it, Carl Williams expresses deep concerns over the Bears’ history of quarterback mismanagement and questions the NFL’s rookie wage scale, which he calls “unconstitutional.” According to Carl, the wage system could have cost Caleb up to $200 million in long-term earnings.
To protect Caleb’s interests, the family reportedly explored legal strategies and even considered having him play in the United Football League (UFL) instead of entering the NFL Draft. Despite these maneuvers, Bears GM Ryan Poles told Caleb the team would draft him no matter what.

New head coach Ben Johnson responded to the revelations by expressing confidence in Caleb. Speaking on The Herd, Johnson said Caleb is fully committed and motivated to succeed, adding that the young quarterback could be the first in franchise history to throw for over 4,000 yards in a season.
As the Bears look ahead to a fresh start, the spotlight remains on Caleb Williams—not just as a quarterback, but as the symbol of a franchise’s hope for transformation.
