Maurkice Pouncey Inducted into Florida Gators Athletics Hall of Fame
The University of Florida has announced that former All-American center Maurkice Pouncey will be inducted into the Gators Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025. Pouncey, who played for the Gators from 2007 to 2009, is among seven “Gator Greats” being honored for their outstanding contributions to Florida athletics.
During his collegiate career, Pouncey established himself as one of the premier offensive linemen in the nation. He started 39 games for Florida, playing a pivotal role in the team’s success. In 2008, he anchored the offensive line that led the Gators to a 13-1 record and a BCS National Championship victory over Oklahoma.

In his junior year, Pouncey became the first center in Florida history to win the Rimington Trophy, awarded to the nation’s top center. He also earned first-team All-America honors from multiple organizations and was a unanimous first-team All-SEC selection.
Following his standout college career, Pouncey was selected 18th overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2010 NFL Draft. He went on to have an illustrious 11-season NFL career, earning nine Pro Bowl selections and being named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team.
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for October 17, 2025, coinciding with the Gators’ home football game against Mississippi State. Pouncey will be inducted alongside other notable Gator athletes, including swimmer Theresa Andrews, track and field star Charlotte Browning, lacrosse standout Kitty Cullen, jumper Marquis Dendy, softball player Lauren Haeger, and gymnast Kytra Hunter.
Pouncey’s induction into the Florida Gators Athletics Hall of Fame cements his legacy as one of the most accomplished offensive linemen in the program’s history. His contributions on and off the field have left an indelible mark on Florida football.
