BREAKING NEWS: Robert Griffin III Set to Join FOX Sports as No. 2 College Football Analyst

Robert Griffin III Expected to Join FOX Sports as No. 2 College Football Analyst

Former Heisman Trophy winner and current ESPN personality Robert Griffin III is reportedly on the move. According to multiple sources, Griffin is expected to be hired by FOX Sports as the network’s No. 2 college football analyst, further bolstering FOX’s on-air talent heading into the 2025 season.

Robert Griffin III Posts Hopeful Message on Next Opportunity

Griffin, affectionately known as “RG3,” has spent the past few seasons with ESPN, where he quickly became one of the network’s more engaging and insightful voices. Known for his energetic commentary, humorous quips, and deep understanding of the game, Griffin’s rise as a broadcaster has mirrored the explosive playstyle that made him a college football star at Baylor.

Now, FOX Sports is looking to capitalize on that rising media profile. By bringing in Griffin, the network aims to add fresh energy to its college football coverage, especially with increased competition from ESPN and CBS in the ever-evolving media landscape.

Griffin is expected to work alongside play-by-play announcer Jason Benetti or another top-tier voice in FOX’s No. 2 broadcast booth, just behind the network’s lead team of Gus Johnson and Joel Klatt. The move gives FOX a strong bench and the ability to further diversify its on-air talent with a former player who has both name recognition and credibility.

A former first-round NFL draft pick, Griffin was the face of Baylor football during his collegiate career, winning the Heisman in 2011. Injuries hampered his professional career after a sensational rookie season with Washington, but he has since reinvented himself as a successful analyst and media personality.

Griffin’s move to FOX comes at a time of transition and growth across college football broadcasting. With major shifts in conference realignment, expanded playoff formats, and the rise of NIL, networks are seeking voices that can not only analyze X’s and O’s but also connect with younger audiences and capture the culture of the modern game.

While the deal is not yet official, sources close to the situation expect an announcement in the coming weeks. Should it go through, Griffin will step into a prominent role just as the 2025 college football season heats up.

For FOX, it’s a savvy acquisition. For RG3, it’s the next step in a broadcasting career that continues to gain momentum.
