Moses Inspires Eels to Victory Over Ill-Disciplined Tigers
Parramatta Eels halfback Mitchell Moses returned in commanding fashion to inspire his side to a 30-16 win over the Wests Tigers in a fiery clash marked by poor discipline and missed chances from the visitors.
Playing at CommBank Stadium on Sunday afternoon, Moses made an immediate impact in his first game back from a foot injury, orchestrating the Eels’ attack with precision and injecting energy into a side desperate for a lift after a string of inconsistent performances.
The Tigers, meanwhile, were their own worst enemies. Ill-discipline plagued their performance from start to finish, with penalties and errors stalling any momentum they tried to build. Three sin-bins throughout the match left them undermanned at key moments, allowing the Eels to capitalize and pull ahead.
Moses, showing no signs of rust, controlled the tempo with his kicking game and took on the line when needed. His combination with Dylan Brown clicked smoothly, and the Eels’ spine showed much-needed cohesion.
The star playmaker also crossed for a try and set up another, proving just how crucial his presence is to the team.
Parramatta’s forward pack laid the platform, with Junior Paulo and Reagan Campbell-Gillard leading the charge up the middle. Their dominance in the ruck allowed Moses to work off the front foot, keeping the Tigers’ defense on the back foot throughout the contest.
For the Tigers, it was another frustrating afternoon. Despite showing glimpses of attacking flair, their lack of discipline proved costly. Errors at crucial times and a string of penalties handed the Eels prime field position, which they were only too happy to exploit.
The frustration boiled over in the second half as tempers flared and the Tigers struggled to keep 13 men on the field. Their ill-discipline not only hurt them on the scoreboard but also reflected a lack of composure in high-pressure moments.
Coach Benji Marshall will have plenty to address in the review, especially with his side showing potential in patches but failing to maintain structure and discipline when it mattered most.
On the other hand, Parramatta coach Brad Arthur will be thrilled with Moses’ return and the lift he gave the team. With their star halfback back in the mix, the Eels will look to build momentum and climb back into finals contention as the season heats up.
