Fijian Drua Secure Star Flyhalf Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula on New Deal

The Fijian Drua have made a significant move in securing the future of one of their brightest talents, flyhalf Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula, who has signed a contract extension that will keep him with the club until the end of the 2027 Super Rugby Pacific season. This move is a major boost for both the Drua and Fijian rugby as they look to build on recent successes and prepare for the 2024 Rugby World Cup.

Family is my motivation - Armstrong-Ravula

Armstrong-Ravula, who made his debut for the Drua last season, has already become the club’s all-time leading point scorer. Known for his composure, skill, and rugby IQ, the 23-year-old flyhalf has proven himself capable of competing at the highest levels, both in Super Rugby and on the international stage with the Flying Fijians. His impact was evident in several key victories for the Drua, including notable wins against Super Rugby giants such as the Chiefs and Crusaders.

Earlier this month, Armstrong-Ravula played a pivotal role in handing the Chiefs their first loss of the season. His two conversions and three penalty goals helped secure a famous victory at Lautoka’s Churchill Park. The Drua’s ability to topple top-tier teams is a testament to Armstrong-Ravula’s skill and leadership.

Fiji’s head coach, Mick Byrne, has lauded Armstrong-Ravula, along with fellow flyhalf Caleb Muntz, as “world-class” players. With the competition for the starting flyhalf spot intensifying between the two, it is clear that the Drua are in good hands moving forward, with both players striving to elevate their game. Armstrong-Ravula’s performances, including his time with the Flying Fijians during last year’s November internationals, where he scored a try against Scotland, have solidified his reputation as one of the most promising young talents in rugby.

Speaking about his extension, Armstrong-Ravula expressed his gratitude to the coaches and the club for the opportunity to remain at such a special institution. “I’m very excited for the future,” he said.

The contract extension is especially significant as Fijian rugby faces the potential departure of key players, with reports suggesting that Muntz is close to a move to the Top 14. Armstrong-Ravula’s new deal ensures that the Drua will retain a key playmaker, solidifying their ambitions both domestically and on the international stage.

General Rugby Manager Baden Stephenson highlighted Armstrong-Ravula’s maturity and work ethic, noting his potential to develop into a world-class player. The Drua are excited to have a player of his caliber committed to the club, and the extension represents a bright future for both the flyhalf and Fijian rugby as a whole.
