BREAKING NEWS: Nottingham Forest Preparing Club-Record Transfer Bid for £62m Arsenal and Chelsea Target

Nottingham Forest Targeting Matheus Cunha in Record-Breaking Transfer Deal

Nottingham Forest is preparing to make a club-record transfer offer for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ attacking star Matheus Cunha, in a move that could shake up the Premier League. Forest, who have had a remarkable season and are currently sitting in third place in the Premier League, are keen to bolster their squad for next season, particularly in the attacking department.

How much will Wolves miss Cunha in relegation battle?

Cunha, who joined Wolves from Atlético Madrid in 2023, has been in sensational form this season, scoring 13 goals and providing 4 assists. The 25-year-old Brazilian forward has established himself as one of the most exciting talents in the Premier League, and his performances have caught the attention of several top clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United.

Despite strong interest from these elite clubs, Cunha opted to sign a new long-term contract with Wolves in 2023, extending his stay at Molineux until 2029. However, the deal included a release clause of £62 million, which could open the door for potential suitors in the upcoming summer transfer window. Wolves are reportedly resigned to the fact that they may lose Cunha, and a bidding war is expected once the window opens.

Forest, who are preparing to make their biggest-ever signing should they qualify for European competition, have made initial enquiries about Cunha, and reports suggest they are willing to offer more than £35 million to bring him to the City Ground. If successful, Cunha would surpass Elliott Anderson’s £35 million transfer from Newcastle, which currently holds the record for the club’s most expensive signing.

Forest’s primary striker, Chris Wood, has been in excellent form this season, netting 18 goals in the Premier League. However, the club recognizes the need for additional attacking support next season to continue challenging the top clubs. Cunha, with his pace, versatility, and finishing ability, would be an ideal addition to Forest’s attack.

However, there are concerns over Cunha’s temperament, which could influence potential suitors. The Brazilian has been involved in several disciplinary issues, including a sending-off in Wolves’ FA Cup defeat to Bournemouth in February, for which he was fined and handed a suspension. These off-field concerns have reportedly caused some hesitation among clubs like Arsenal, who were interested in him during the January transfer window.

Nevertheless, with his contract extension and release clause in place, Cunha’s future is still uncertain. As the summer transfer window approaches, it remains to be seen whether Forest can convince the Brazilian to make the move to the City Ground, or whether one of the bigger clubs will ultimately secure his signature.
