“IMPRESSIVE” Former Alabama OL all but asks the Miami Dolphins at the NFL Combine to let him come protect Tua Tagovailoa

Miami Dolphins Eye Offensive Line Help: Could Tyler Booker Be the Solution?

The Miami Dolphins enter the 2025 NFL offseason with clear needs to address along their offensive line. After struggling in the trenches last season, the Dolphins are in desperate need of reinforcements to protect their franchise quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, and improve their run game. With the NFL Combine in full swing, Miami’s head coach Mike McDaniel and general manager Chris Grier are closely evaluating prospects who could make an immediate impact. One player who stands out as a potential fit for the Dolphins is Alabama interior offensive lineman (IOL) Tyler Booker.

Booker, a 6’5″, 330-pound powerhouse, has shown his potential to be a dominant force in the SEC and could be exactly what Miami needs in their quest to shore up their offensive line. Despite not having met with the Dolphins at the Combine, Booker expressed his interest in joining Miami and protecting his former Crimson Tide teammate, Tua Tagovailoa. “I haven’t met Tua, but I’ve heard a lot of great stories about him,” Booker said. “I’ve only heard great things about Tua, so it would be great to block for him, play with any other Bama guy because we’re wired a little differently. So, having his leadership would be great.”

Leadership and Toughness on the Field

Tyler Booker has all the traits that Miami’s offensive line needs. The Dolphins have struggled with consistency in their interior offensive line, and Booker could immediately provide both leadership and physicality. As a team captain at Alabama, Booker has experience in a leadership role, guiding his teammates through the intense competition of the SEC. His leadership was on full display both on and off the field, and his tough, gritty mentality is exactly what the Dolphins need in their interior line.

“I make guys not love football anymore,” Booker explained. “It’s legal assault out there, and I love football because the brand of football that I play, I make guys not love football anymore, and I do that every dayβ€”every downβ€”by really just giving them my all and letting you know I’m not going to let up.” These words epitomize the mentality Miami needs, especially with the possibility of replacing two starting guard spots this offseason. Booker’s relentless attitude and ability to dominate opponents could provide an instant upgrade to Miami’s struggling offensive line.

A Potential Solution for Miami’s Offensive Line Woes

Miami has long been searching for players who can dominate the line of scrimmage and protect Tagovailoa, who has dealt with injuries due to poor protection in recent years. With two guard positions likely up for grabs this offseason, Tyler Booker could emerge as a prime candidate to fill one of those spots. His combination of size, power, and mentality would make him a natural fit in McDaniel’s system, which requires offensive linemen to play both with aggression and technique.

The Dolphins’ offensive line has been a weakness for several seasons, and while there are pieces in place, they need more stability and toughness. Booker has shown he possesses both. His leadership on the field would bring an added layer of intensity, and his physical approach to the game would bring the kind of attitude Miami desperately needs.

The Future for Booker and the Dolphins

Although the Dolphins did not meet with Booker at the Combine, it’s important to note that the process is far from over. Miami has plenty of time to evaluate prospects before the 2025 NFL Draft, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the Dolphins express interest in Booker in the coming weeks. Given Miami’s current needs, Booker’s physicality and mentality could make him one of the team’s top targets heading into the draft.

With the Dolphins focusing on bolstering their offensive line, adding a player like Tyler Booker would be a step in the right direction. Booker’s combination of leadership, toughness, and ability to dominate his opponents would make him a valuable asset for Miami, both in the short and long term. If Booker is selected by the Dolphins, he could be the key to transforming their offensive line and improving their chances of making a deep playoff run with Tua Tagovailoa under center. The future for Booker and the Dolphins looks promisingβ€”if the two sides connect during the draft process, Miami could find themselves with the perfect player to protect their star quarterback.
