Hampus Lindholm Expected to Rejoin Bruins After NHL Break
As the Boston Bruins prepare for their final game before the NHL’s two-week break for the 4 Nations Face-Off, it is clear that defenseman Hampus Lindholm will not be in the lineup for Saturday’s matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights at TD Garden.
However, interim head coach Joe Sacco remains hopeful that Lindholm will be back in action when the team resumes play on February 22 against the Mighty Ducks in Boston.
Lindholm, who has been a pivotal part of the Bruins’ defensive core this season, is recovering from an injury that has kept him out of the lineup for a short period. Despite his absence, the Bruins have managed to maintain their strong performance on the ice, sitting comfortably among the top teams in the NHL standings.
Lindholm’s return will certainly bolster their already-impressive defensive unit, adding to the team’s depth as they approach the final stretch of the season.
Joe Sacco, who has been stepping in as interim coach during the absence of head coach Jim Montgomery, addressed the media ahead of the game against Vegas, expressing optimism that Lindholm’s recovery would be swift and he would be ready to suit up when the team reconvenes later in the month.
Sacco acknowledged that Lindholm’s presence in the lineup is crucial for the Bruins, particularly as they push for playoff positioning.
“Hampus is a key player for us,” Sacco said. “We want him healthy, but we’re also excited to get him back in the fold when we return to action.
He plays such a big role on both ends of the ice, and his experience and leadership will be valuable as we head into the home stretch of the season.”
Lindholm’s importance to the Bruins cannot be overstated. The 29-year-old has been a steady force on the blue line, providing both defensive stability and offensive contributions.
His ability to shut down opposing forwards and contribute to the team’s power play has made him one of the top defensemen in the league this year.
In his absence, players like Charlie McAvoy and Brandon Carlo have stepped up, but the return of Lindholm will give the Bruins a significant boost.
As the team looks ahead to the final stretch before the postseason, Lindholm’s return will be crucial in ensuring that the Bruins are poised for a deep playoff run.
With a two-week break ahead, the team is hopeful that their key players, including Lindholm, will be at full strength when play resumes.
In the meantime, the Bruins will focus on their final game before the break, looking to finish strong against the Golden Knights and carry momentum into the next phase of the season.
