JUST IN: 49ers New Hired Coach Robert Saleh Terminate Contract Amid Internal Disagreements With…

Santa Clara, CA – In a surprising turn of events, the San Francisco 49ers have terminated the contract of newly rehired defensive coordinator Robert Saleh. The move comes just weeks after Saleh’s return to the organization, following a brief stint as head coach of the New York Jets.

According to multiple sources, the termination stems from significant internal disagreements between Saleh and the 49ers front office, particularly regarding personnel decisions and the direction of the defense.

“There were irreconcilable differences in our vision for the team,” said 49ers General Manager John Lynch in a statement. “We wish Robert all the best in his future endeavors.”

Saleh, who previously led a dominant 49ers defense from 2017 to 2020, expressed his disappointment in the abrupt end to his second tenure with the team.

“I am deeply saddened by this outcome,” Saleh said in a statement. “I have the utmost respect for the 49ers organization and the players. I believe strongly in my ability to lead a successful defense, and I will continue to seek opportunities to do so.”

The 49ers are now tasked with finding a new defensive coordinator less than a month before the start of training camp. This unexpected development adds another layer of uncertainty to an already challenging offseason for the team.
