BREAKING NEWS: 5-star OL Prospect Sets Official Visit With Alabama Football

Alabama football has secured an official visit with one of the most coveted prospects in the 2026 recruiting class, Lamar Brown.

The 5-star offensive lineman from University Lab High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, will visit the Crimson Tide over the weekend of May 30th, according to On3’s Steve Wiltfong.

Brown is not just a standout prospect; he’s the No. 1 player in Louisiana and ranks as the No. 8 overall player in the nation, per the 247Sports Composite rankings. Known for his positional versatility, Brown is being recruited by several programs for both sides of the football. While many scouts project him as a long-term fit at interior offensive line, others believe his size, strength, and athleticism could make him a dominant defensive tackle at the collegiate level.

The competition for Brown’s commitment is fierce. Georgia and Texas A&M are heavily involved in his recruitment, but the biggest challenge for any program will be pulling him away from LSU. Located just across the street from University Lab High School, LSU has a home-field advantage that makes it incredibly difficult to lure top talent like Brown out of the state.

However, Alabama is no stranger to this type of challenge. During Nick Saban’s tenure, the Crimson Tide established a strong recruiting pipeline to University Lab High School, landing players like Tim Williams, Dylan Moses, and Christian Harris. Beyond that, Saban’s recruiting dominance in Louisiana brought other high-profile talents to Tuscaloosa, including Landon Collins, Cam Robinson, and Eddie Lacy.

Now, the question is whether Alabama’s new head coach, Kalen DeBoer, can replicate that success. DeBoer’s first recruiting class at Alabama notably did not include any players from Louisiana, raising questions about his ability to compete in one of the country’s most talent-rich states. Landing Brown, however, would be a massive statement for DeBoer and the program.

Brown’s visit to Tuscaloosa is a crucial step in this recruitment battle. With his blend of talent and versatility, he would be a game-changing addition to Alabama’s future roster. Moreover, his commitment would signal that DeBoer is capable of challenging powerhouse programs like LSU, Georgia, and Texas A&M in their own backyards.

While the task of landing Brown is daunting, Alabama has a proven track record and a history of overcoming such odds. If DeBoer can secure Brown’s commitment, it would solidify his standing as a top-tier recruiter and set the tone for Alabama’s recruiting efforts under his leadership.
