Patriots Bring Back Familiar Face: Josh McDaniels Returns as Offensive Coordinator
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots have brought back a familiar face to their coaching staff, announcing the return of Josh McDaniels as the team’s new offensive coordinator.
McDaniels, who previously served as the Patriots’ offensive coordinator from 2006 to 2008 and again from 2012 to 2021, will reunite with new head coach Mike Vrabel in an effort to revitalize the team’s offense.
“We’re thrilled to have Josh back on our staff,” Vrabel said in a statement. “His expertise and experience will be invaluable in helping us develop our young quarterback, Drake Maye, and implementing a dynamic offense that will compete with the best in the league.”
During his previous stint with the Patriots, McDaniels played a key role in the team’s success, helping to develop quarterbacks Tom Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo, and crafting high-powered offenses that contributed to six Super Bowl wins.
McDaniels’ return to New England comes after a two-year stint as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, where he compiled a 13-24 record.
The Patriots are counting on McDaniels to bring his expertise and experience to the table and help the team bounce back from a disappointing 4-13 season.
With McDaniels at the helm, the Patriots’ offense is expected to undergo significant changes, with a focus on developing Maye and implementing a more dynamic and explosive attack.
