JUST IN: Giants to Retain Head Coach Brian Daboll for 2025 Season

In a move that solidifies their commitment to long-term stability, the New York Giants have announced that head coach Brian Daboll will return for the 2025 season.

Amid a challenging year filled with injuries and roster transitions, the organization has opted to stay the course with the reigning 2022 AP Coach of the Year at the helm.

The decision comes after weeks of speculation surrounding Daboll’s future with the team. Despite a disappointing 2024 campaign that saw the Giants miss the playoffs, team ownership and general manager Joe Schoen remain confident in Daboll’s ability to lead the franchise back to contention. In a joint statement, Schoen and Giants co-owner John Mara emphasized their belief in Daboll’s vision and leadership.

“Brian has shown us that he has the intelligence, work ethic, and character to lead this team,” said Mara. “While this season didn’t go as planned, we are confident that he is the right coach to guide us forward.”

Daboll, who was hired in January 2022, made an immediate impact in his first year, leading the Giants to a 9-7-1 record and their first playoff appearance since 2016. That season also featured a memorable upset victory over the Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card Round before falling to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional Round. His innovative offensive schemes and ability to connect with players earned widespread praise and reinvigorated a fanbase desperate for success.

However, the subsequent two seasons have been tumultuous. The Giants struggled to replicate their initial success in 2023 and 2024, with injuries to key players like quarterback Daniel Jones and offensive tackle Andrew Thomas hampering their progress. Questions surrounding the team’s roster construction and inconsistent performances added to the scrutiny.

Even so, Daboll’s track record as an offensive mind and his previous success as the Buffalo Bills’ offensive coordinator have kept him in good standing with the front office. The Giants’ decision to retain him signals a commitment to continuity rather than starting over with a new regime.

Looking ahead, Daboll faces the daunting task of addressing the Giants’ numerous issues, including fortifying the offensive line, improving the defense, and maximizing the potential of their young core. With a high draft pick looming and ample salary cap space, the 2025 offseason will be pivotal in determining the team’s trajectory.

For now, Giants fans can take solace in the fact that the organization remains unified in its belief that Daboll is the man to lead Big Blue back to glory.
