“Dak Prescott Seeks Last-Minute Medical Advice to Avoid Season-Ending Surgery”
The Cowboys surprised the media today by not placing quarterback Dak Prescott on injured reserve, and reports have now provided insight into the delay. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Prescott is consulting multiple doctors in hopes of avoiding surgery.
It was recently reported that Prescott suffered a partial hamstring tendon avulsion, indicating he would likely be sidelined for an extended period. Further examination suggested that season-ending surgery might be required. Although team officials initially announced yesterday that Prescott would be moved to injured reserve, this hasn’t yet happened.
Schefter shared today that Prescott is expected to have the surgery but is awaiting the opinion of one more specialist. He is scheduled to fly to New York next week for the consultation, and if this final specialist agrees with prior assessments, Prescott will have surgery on Wednesday.
Sources estimate a recovery period of six to eight weeks. Cowboys staff are already convinced he’ll need surgery, so placing him on IR now or later this week makes little difference. However, if the specialist offers a different recommendation, the Cowboys would still have a slim chance of Prescott returning sooner.
