“JUST IN: Fiji Rugby Crashes in World Rankings Following Heavy Loss to Scotland”
Fiji has fallen to 10th place in the World Rugby Men’s Rankings, dropping below Australia, after a record 57-17 loss to Scotland in the first round of the Autumn Nations Series. This was Fiji’s heaviest defeat and the most points they have conceded in 10 meetings with Scotland, where Darcy Graham scored four tries on his international return.
Scotland earned 0.58 ranking points for the victory, their first at Murrayfield since they held onto the Calcutta Cup, and remain in seventh place, now within a point of Argentina. Fiji’s loss of 0.58 points lowered their ranking score to 79.07, pushing them below Australia.
Meanwhile, New Zealand gained 0.97 points with a narrow 24-22 win over England at Twickenham, raising their third-place rating to 89.67, while England stays in fifth but with a slightly lower rating of 84.43 points.
Sweden, having narrowly missed reaching their record high of 31st last week, achieved it this time by defeating Lithuania 46-19 in the Rugby Europe Men’s Trophy 2024-25, moving ahead of Germany.
Belgium also climbed three spots to 27th after a 48-7 win over Switzerland, who dropped two places to 28th, underscoring the level of competition Switzerland will face in the Rugby Europe Championship next year.
Latvia’s 62-0 victory over Estonia in the Rugby Europe Men’s Conference 2024-25 did not affect the rankings, as Estonia is not a full World Rugby member.
