“ALERT: Micah Parsons and DaRon Bland Set to Make Epic Comebacks—Is This the Turning Point for the Cowboys?”
FRISCO, Texas – Amidst the injury struggles the Cowboys have faced in 2024, there might be some hope with Mike McCarthy providing updates on Micah Parsons and DaRon Bland during his Monday press conference.
Parsons, who hasn’t played since the Cowboys defeated the Giants in week four, has been spotted practicing with athletic trainer Britt Brown in recent weeks, focusing on rehabilitation. Although he hasn’t participated in practice yet, McCarthy is optimistic that this week will be different.
“He’s feeling better and will get some practice time on Wednesday, which will be a significant step for us,” McCarthy stated. “It appears he might be able to join the practice field.”
The Cowboys’ pass rush, which currently boasts a 37% quarterback pressure rate in Parsons’ absence (ranking 7th in the NFL), stands to improve significantly with the return of the All-Pro defensive end. However, it remains unclear how much he will be able to contribute right away upon his return.
“Not yet,” defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer responded when asked about Parsons’ expected workload this week if he is able to play.
As for DaRon Bland, this could be the week he finally makes his 2024 debut after experiencing a setback in his recovery a few weeks ago. His progress will need to go smoothly starting Tuesday, but McCarthy is also optimistic about Bland’s chances of returning to practice after several days of being sidelined before the game against Atlanta.
“I expect he’ll start with the rehab group. Tomorrow’s workout will play a role in that assessment,” McCarthy said. “I’m hopeful he can transition from the rehab group to some limited work on Wednesday.”
With the Eagles’ offense currently ranking sixth in the NFL, the Cowboys would certainly welcome the return of two of their top defensive playmakers. Philadelphia has been effective on offense, led by Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, AJ Brown, and a strong offensive line, winning their last four games and averaging 28.25 points per game during that stretch. Zimmer and the Cowboys defense are aware of the challenge they will face on Sunday afternoon at AT&T Stadium.
“They’re very explosive, with a solid running game, a big and physical offensive line, and talented receivers,” Zimmer said. “[Jalen] Hurts is playing exceptionally well and throwing the ball effectively.”
