Before taking off for Green Bay, the Detroit Lions have made a number of announcements.
They added tight end Shane Zylstra and edge rusher Al-Quadin Muhammad from the practice squad for the week, along with defensive linemen Chris Smith and Abraham Beauplan, to the 53-man roster. Aidan Hutchinson, Marcus Davenport, John Cominsky, and Derrick Barnes have all had injuries in recent weeks, thus this adds three more components to the pass rush.
The Lions have now ruled out running back Sione Vaki (knee) and rookie defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo (ankle), another part of their front seven. Due to injury, both players were initially labeled as doubtful to participate in Green Bay. Detroit’s defensive edge is severely lacking in depth when you include Josh Paschal and Malcolm Rodriguez, who were both declared out on Friday.
To help create room for the defensive reinforcements, the Lions also cut tight end Parker Hesse.
