Two visits to Notre Dame earlier this year have positioned the Irish as strong contenders for Thomas Davis Jr., North Carolina’s top linebacker prospect for 2026. Davis plans to visit again next week for Notre Dame’s home game against Florida State, where he’s eager to see the team in live action.

“It’ll be great to actually watch them play,” Davis says. “I’ve seen everything else I need to.”

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound linebacker will be experiencing his first Irish game and hopes it helps him envision himself as part of the team. Davis, a standout from Weddington High School, has maintained regular contact with the Notre Dame staff, speaking weekly with Coaches Max Bullough, Al Golden, Marcus Freeman, and Carter Auman. “They’re great people, on and off the field,” Davis says, which is a major factor in his interest in Notre Dame. “They focus on player development in football and beyond. It’s a great school.”

Davis holds offers from numerous schools, including North Carolina, Clemson, LSU, Miami, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Oregon, USC, and UCLA. This season, his travel has been limited to visits to Oregon and Tennessee, but he plans to attend the Ohio State vs. Michigan rivalry game at the end of the month.

After the season, Davis intends to narrow down his list of

schools.
