“Cowboys Fall to 49ers Amid Family Scare and Growing Team Struggles”
The Cowboys couldn’t pull off a comeback and lost to the San Francisco 49ers, 30-24, in their Week 8 Sunday Night Football game. Before the game, a car carrying Jerry Jones’ family members – Charlotte Jones, Jerry Jones Jr., and Shy Anderson Jr. – was involved in a collision with a rising barricade outside Levi’s Stadium. Although medical staff checked out Jones Jr. and Charlotte, they went on to attend the game.
According to The Athletic’s Michael Silver, there were initial concerns that Charlotte may have sustained a rib injury and that Jerry Jr. might have a head injury. However, later reports, including one by James Brizuela for Newsweek, clarified that no injuries were reported. At the time of the accident, Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones were in a different vehicle.
Despite the family’s fortunate outcome from the incident, the Cowboys’ struggles continued, falling to a 3-4 record after two straight losses. Following major contract extensions for Dak Prescott ($240 million), CeeDee Lamb ($97 million), and Trevon Diggs ($97 million), the team has been underperforming. This has led some analysts, like Skip Bayless, to suggest that Mike McCarthy should be replaced, although Jerry Jones has declined to do so.
Separately, Shannon Sharpe criticized Jones for allegedly threatening to fire the hosts of the Dallas radio show 105.3 The Fan after a 47-9 loss to the Detroit Lions. Additionally, the Cowboys’ choice not to sign Derrick Henry in free agency has drawn criticism, as Henry is now excelling with the Baltimore Ravens.
