DONE DEAL:New Orleans Saints Finalised Two-Year, $24.5 Million Running Back Reunion Deal.

“Alvin Kamara Signs Two-Year, $24.5 Million Extension with Saints, Ending Trade Rumors”

Mike Garafolo reported that the New Orleans Saints and running back Alvin Kamara have agreed to a two-year contract extension worth $24.5 million. Earlier, Kamara addressed rumors about him requesting a trade on social media, denying any desire to leave New Orleans despite increased speculation. This new deal confirms that both sides intend to stay together after negotiations this offseason didn’t result in a long-term agreement.

Kamara had been seeking a market-rate contract with guaranteed money, as his salary for 2025 was not guaranteed. Prior to the extension, Kamara’s cap hit for 2025 was set to exceed $29 million, with a non-guaranteed base salary of $22.4 million. According to Tom Pelissero, the extension will help the Saints save approximately $18 million in cap space for 2025.

Kamara, 29, was originally a third-round draft pick by the Saints in 2017. He signed a five-year extension worth $77.133 million after his rookie deal and restructured his contract last offseason. For 2024, his base salary was set at $10.2 million. So far this season, Kamara has played in seven games, rushing for 438 yards on 111 carries (3.9 YPC) and recording 34 receptions for 252 yards, with seven total touchdowns.
