“Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka to Receive Samoan Matai Title During CHOGM”

Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is scheduled to receive a Samoan matai title today.

He is currently in Apia for the 27th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) this week.

As reported by Samoa Capital Radio, Rabuka will be honored with the title of chief of the village of Leauva’a.

Vaifale, a community representative, confirmed that he will be given the title of Tagaloa.

Although there are no direct connections to the Prime Minister, this event is intended to mark a historic occasion celebrating Samoa’s hosting of CHOGM, according to Samoa Capital Radio.

Leauva’a is hosting the Fijian officials attending CHOGM, and the village has implemented all necessary safety measures for Rabuka.

The ceremony to grant the title of Tagaloa to Rabuka will take place at 4 PM today.
