The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly engaged in trade talks with the Cincinnati Bengals to acquire star wide receiver Tee Higgins.
This move would signal the Cowboys’ intent to bolster their offense, particularly as they look to make a deep playoff push this season.
The addition of Higgins, who has been a consistent playmaker for the Bengals since entering the league, would give the Cowboys another dynamic weapon alongside CeeDee Lamb, their top receiving threat.
Higgins, a 6-foot-4 wideout out of Clemson, has developed into one of the league’s top young receivers since being selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Known for his excellent ball skills, big-play ability, and physical presence, Higgins would provide quarterback Dak Prescott with a reliable target, particularly in the red zone and during critical third-down situations.
In 2023, Higgins recorded 74 receptions for 1,029 yards and 7 touchdowns, helping the Bengals reach the AFC Championship game.
His size and athleticism make him a tough matchup for cornerbacks, and pairing him with Lamb could give the Cowboys one of the most potent wide receiver tandems in the league.
Dallas’ offense has shown flashes of brilliance this season, but the team has struggled with consistency, especially in big games.
The Cowboys’ passing attack often relies heavily on Lamb, and while he’s been stellar, the lack of a true No. 2 receiver has been evident at times. Michael Gallup has been solid, but he hasn’t consistently lived up to the expectations placed on him after his return from a knee injury.
Acquiring Higgins could take pressure off Lamb and create more opportunities for both receivers to make an impact.
For the Bengals, parting with Higgins would be a tough decision, given his importance to their offense. However, with Higgins entering the final year of his rookie deal and potentially seeking a big payday, Cincinnati may be open to trading him in exchange for valuable assets, such as draft picks or additional players.
The Bengals are also already loaded with talent, including star receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd, making Higgins expendable if the right offer comes along.
The Cowboys, who are always looking to improve their roster, seem intent on making a splash before the trade deadline, and Higgins could be the key to pushing their offense to the next level.
If the trade comes to fruition, Dallas could become a serious contender in the NFC.
