“Canadiens Management Aims for NHL Experience for Reinbacher, Mailloux, and Hutson This Season”
Sportsnet journalist Eric Engels, who covers the Montreal Canadiens, has shared some intriguing information.
There’s been considerable discussion about the competition among young defensemen aiming to secure a spot in Martin St-Louis’ lineup for the season opener. We now have a clearer understanding of the team’s management’s plans.
Will David Reinbacher, Logan Mailloux, and Lane Hutson all be in the NHL this season? According to Engels, management is eager to see all three defensemen gain NHL experience.
“Management clearly wants to see Lane Hutson, Logan Mailloux, and David Reinbacher get quality NHL experience this season,” Engels reports.
Although this may not happen immediately, Reinbacher likely won’t spend the entire season with the Laval Rocket, and the same holds for Mailloux if he’s ever sent down.
There’s even a possibility of a trade to make space for Reinbacher, indicating that we can expect significant movement among defensemen for the Canadiens in the coming months.
David Reinbacher, 19, stands at 6-foot-3 and 209 pounds and was selected 5th overall in the 2023 draft (1st round). Last season, he recorded 5 points in 11 games with the Laval Rocket and 11 points in 35 games with Kloten in Switzerland’s top league.
