“Kirby Dach Confident and Prepared for Breakout Season After Injury Setback”
After a season cut short by a knee injury, Kirby Dach says he’s more prepared than ever to make a strong return for the 2024-25 season. With the new season just weeks away, the 23-year-old forward addressed a rumor during a press conference earlier this week, confirming speculation from the end of last season about his potential return.
Dach confirmed that he was ready to play at the end of last season, echoing a report made by TVA Sports journalist Renaud Lavoie a few months ago. “Last year felt long, but I’m in a good place mentally and physically. I felt ready to play at the end of the season, though the doctors hadn’t cleared me yet.”
With these remarks, it’s evident the Canadiens’ management made the right call with number 77. He is now preparing for training camp, a pivotal moment in his career. “I had a great summer, and now I’m going into camp trying to prove myself again, show I can be an impact player, help the team win games, and play in critical moments later in the season.”
Acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2022 draft, Dach had a strong first season in Montreal, scoring 38 points in 58 games. However, he only played two games in the 2023-24 season. Many experts expect him to play on the Canadiens’ second line, and if he’s paired with Patrik Laine and Alex Newhook, he could be poised for the best season of his young career.
