“Zalewski’s Return to Roma: Juric’s First Major Decision and Future Contract Talks”
Nicola Zalewski’s return to the Roma squad marks one of Ivan Juric’s first bold moves as the new Giallorossi coach. The 22-year-old rejoined team training after a dispute with the club and may even see his contract extended in the future.
Roma had initially planned to sell Zalewski to avoid losing him as a free agent in the summer of 2025, when his contract is set to expire.
However, the player recently rejected a transfer to Galatasaray, a deal that would have brought in €11 million plus €4 million in bonuses, thus complicating a cost-effective sale.
In response, Roma had excluded Zalewski from first-team activities indefinitely.
His reintegration appears linked to Juric’s appointment, who succeeded the dismissed Daniele De Rossi. Sky Sport Italy reports that a phone conversation between Juric and Zalewski facilitated the player’s return.
With this development, Roma may soon resume discussions with Zalewski and his agents regarding a potential contract renewal.
