“Turmoil at Roma: Fan Protests Loom After De Rossi’s Dismissal Amid Internal Tensions”
The Ivan Juric era at Roma is off to a rocky start, as fans are expected to protest against the club’s management during the upcoming match against Udinese, following the sacking of Daniele De Rossi. While Juric himself won’t be the main target, supporters will express their discontent, according to Il Messaggero.
The fan base has aligned with De Rossi, a club legend, and turned against the ownership, a stance they have already voiced online. The players are not immune to criticism either, with captain Lorenzo Pellegrini, who has faced scrutiny in the past, receiving backlash outside the training center on Wednesday.
La Repubblica reports that De Rossi’s departure was largely due to his tense relationship with CEO Lina Souloukou. Though there wasn’t a direct confrontation, ongoing tensions escalated. In particular, De Rossi was unhappy with the front office’s handling of Paulo Dybala’s potential sale, which fell through, and the situation involving Nicola Zalewski.
The coach even threatened to resign after being instructed not to play Dybala in more than 14 matches, as this would trigger a contract extension clause, placing a heavy financial burden on the club. De Rossi saw this as an unacceptable intrusion, though the board rejected his resignation.
Our view on Roma and De Rossi’s departure It’s clear that a poor start alone didn’t lead to such a drastic decision. Roma remains plagued by internal conflicts, regardless of who is in charge, which continues to hinder the club’s progress.
