BREAKING NEWS: Red Bull Racing canceled its unique liveries because of weight issues.

Unquestionably, the livery, especially the personalized patterns, is a fan favorite feature of every Formula 1 team’s vehicle. Red Bull Racing, however, has decided not to proceed with its scheduled liveries for the US or Singapore Grands Prix.

Earlier this year, Red Bull Racing fans submitted drawings for the REBL CUSTMS Livery Competition. Participants in the competition could create their own design using a set of templates, decals, and colors that matched the Red Bull Racing logo.

At Silverstone in July, the RB20 was adorned with the inaugural winning design. Chalaj Suvanish, a Thai artist, is credited with creating the “RED Bull” design, according to The Paddock. The legendary “Camo Bull” pre-season testing livery from 2015 served as the model for the Silverstone livery.

“Unexpected and excessive weight added”

The team apparently got in touch with fan design competition participants on Tuesday. The special livery paint “added unforeseen and undue weight to the bodywork of the RB20,” according to the statement.

The statement goes on, “The Team is continuing to prioritise making this car as competitive as possible for the remainder of the 2024 season. Any additional weight compromises performance.” Red Bull Racing therefore made the “heavy heart” decision to forgo running the specially designed liveries for the upcoming two Formula One races.

Racing News 365 claims that Hamda Al Qubaisi’s car in F1 Academy will continue to wear the livery.

Eliminating a customized livery could result in slight performance advantages.

The livery meant for use in Singapore was discovered to have added about 1kg of paint weight to the RB20, as reported by Autosport. Due to the incredibly close margins in the championship race, the team decided not to take the risk, even though this would have resulted in a performance differential of only 0.03 seconds per lap.

With McLaren now dominating the Constructor’s Championship and Ferrari also exerting pressure on the defending World Champions, pressure is mounting on Red Bull Racing.

Red Bull is going to try to accumulate as many points as they can towards their Championship standings, especially in light of the spectacular penultimate lap racing event that occurred at Baku between Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz.

The Singapore GP liveries of other teams are revealed

Red Bull has demonstrated its dedication to optimizing performance in the face of formidable opponents by opting out of the REBL CUSTMS livery. In a competition this close, even little adjustments could result in points and placements.

Nevertheless, other teams are continuing to play with their limited-edition uniforms. On Wednesday, Mercedes and Visa Cash App RB revealed their liveries ahead of the renowned night race in Singapore.

Mercedes and PETRONAS are celebrating 50 years of collaboration. The VCARB 01, featuring a denim-inspired design, will honor sponsors HUGO, a division of the fashion business Hugo Boss.
