“Roma Announce Successful Surgery for Alexis Saelemaekers After Ankle Fracture”

Roma have confirmed that winger Alexis Saelemaekers has successfully undergone surgery for a fractured ankle bone.

The former Milan player suffered the injury during the recent 1-1 Serie A match against Genoa. He was diagnosed with a fractured medial malleolus, which required surgery to stabilize.

The operation was completed successfully, and Saelemaekers will begin his rehabilitation in the coming days.

The recovery is expected to take around 12 weeks, with the hope that he’ll return to action by late 2024.

Saelemaekers, 25, joined Roma on loan from Milan over the summer as part of the deal that saw Tammy Abraham move to San Siro. The Belgian, who has been playing in Italy since January 2020, also spent part of last season on loan at Bologna. He has 144 Serie A appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing 15 assists.
