“Brighton & Hove Albion Secure Marquee Signing of Nikita Parris from Manchester United Ahead of New WSL Season”
Brighton & Hove Albion have made another significant move ahead of the new Women’s Super League season by signing Nikita Parris from Manchester United. Parris will join fellow England Lioness Fran Kirby on the south coast as Dario Vidosic’s team aims to improve on last season’s ninth-place finish.
Following Kirby’s signing, Brighton secured a deadline day deal for the 30-year-old Parris, adding another marquee player to their roster. Parris has signed on to play alongside her England teammate, further strengthening the Sussex side’s ambitions.
Women’s head coach Dario Vidosic expressed his excitement, stating, “We’re thrilled to bring a player of Nikita’s caliber and experience to the club. It shows our intent as a team. Her track record as a goal scorer is impressive, and she will be a great asset, especially as a role model for our younger players. She’s eager for the new challenge, and we look forward to working with her ahead of our first WSL match against Everton next Saturday.”
Manchester United exercised an option to extend Parris’ contract, ensuring they received a fee for the transfer. This deal marks the second transfer between the two clubs this summer, following Elisabeth Terland’s move to Manchester United.
Parris, a key player for England’s Euro 2022-winning squad and a participant in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics with Team GB, has a decorated career. With 71 caps and 17 goals for her country, she has been an integral part of the national team since her debut in 2016. Her club career has spanned Everton, Manchester City, Lyon, and Arsenal, with honors including a Women’s Super League title, three FA Cups, two WSL Cups, and a Women’s Champions League title with Lyon in 2020.
