“Rangers Manager’s Future Hangs in the Balance With Potential £3 Million Payoff Looming”
Keith Wyness, the former chief of Aberdeen, suggested that Rangers manager Philippe Clement could potentially receive a payout of £3 million if he is dismissed from his position. In an interview on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old, who has held prominent roles at various football clubs and now works as a consultant for top-tier teams, expressed confidence in Clement’s ability to improve the situation at Ibrox, highlighting his strong football knowledge.
Following a 3-0 defeat to Celtic on 1 September, a number of Rangers supporters demanded for Clement to be fired. The loss widened the gap between the Glasgow club and their long-standing rivals to five points. Despite this setback, Clement recently signed a contract extension with Rangers that will keep him in the position until 2028. However, on 2 September, it was reported by Football Insider that the club will not rush into a decision regarding Clement’s future in response to their disappointing start to the season.
Wyness emphasized the importance of stability for Rangers as they face a challenging period of reconstruction. He suggested that the potential payout for dismissing Clement could amount to around £2-3 million. Wyness speculated that while the club may attempt to spread out the payment, Clement would likely prefer to receive the full amount immediately. He strongly advised against Rangers making the decision to terminate Clement’s contract.
