“49ers’ Ricky Pearsall Shot in Attempted Robbery, Suspect in Custody”
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was shot on Saturday afternoon during an attempted robbery at Union Square, according to San Francisco Mayor London Breed.
The San Francisco Police Department reported that officers discovered two men with injuries at around 3:37 p.m. PT. Both individuals received medical assistance on the scene and were then transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. The preliminary investigation revealed that one of the injured men had tried to rob Pearsall. The suspect is now in custody, and charges are pending.
The 49ers released a statement saying, “San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was the victim of an attempted robbery and shooting today. He was shot in the chest and is currently in serious but stable condition. We ask for privacy during this time and extend our thoughts and prayers to Ricky and his family.”
Pearsall, 23, was selected 31st overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. He has been recovering from a shoulder injury during the preseason and recently returned to practice.
