“Leicester City Finalizes Loan Moves for Nelson, Cannon, and Marcal as Transfer Window Closes”
Leicester City are working on three loan deals involving Ben Nelson, Tom Cannon, and Wanya Marcal.
With the transfer window closing in about eight hours, Nelson and Cannon are set to secure their anticipated Championship loans. Both players have attracted significant interest from various clubs in the division and have now chosen their new teams.
Centre-back Nelson is likely to join Championship newcomers Oxford on loan. Despite interest from larger clubs, the 20-year-old defender believes he’ll have a better chance of regular playing time with Oxford, which is crucial for his development as he aims for a first-team spot at Leicester next season.
Although Leicester is not expected to sign a striker, Cannon’s departure is proceeding. Initially, a permanent move seemed possible, but it now appears that the Republic of Ireland international will be leaving on loan to Stoke. The 21-year-old, who has had several Championship offers, is currently at Stoke for a medical, with the club being the preferred choice for both Cannon and Leicester. He is expected to take on a leading striker role there.
As for Marcal, he is set to experience senior football more extensively. The winger, who has made nine senior appearances for Leicester, is reportedly joining De Graafschap in the Dutch second tier.
