“Disrespect and Departure: Todd Cantwell’s Controversial Exit from Rangers”
Derek Ferguson has criticized Todd Cantwell for showing disrespect towards his Rangers teammates in both the senior and B Teams ahead of his anticipated move to Blackburn. Alan Nixon reported on August 26 that Blackburn was interested, and by August 29, The Athletic revealed that talks were progressing on a £500,000 transfer with a medical scheduled.
Cantwell, who requested to leave Rangers this summer, is departing for a relatively small fee. Unlike Ianis Hagi, he has not been involved with the B Team after being omitted from the senior squad. Ferguson feels Cantwell’s refusal to play is letting down his teammates and views the situation as a disappointing end to Cantwell’s time at Rangers.
In an exclusive interview with Ibrox News, Ferguson stated, “He seems to have thrown a tantrum and is refusing to play. It’s disrespectful to the other players, including those in the B Team, who are trying to make their way in football. He could have at least helped them out. It’s unfortunate how things have turned out, but it would be best for everyone if he moved on from the club.”
