“Villa’s Matty Cash Setback: Star Defender Out for a Month After Arsenal Clash”
Aston Villa’s right-back Matty Cash has been sidelined for a month due to a hamstring injury. Cash sustained the injury during Villa’s Premier League match against Arsenal on Saturday, leaving the field in the 16th minute after attempting to block a cross. He will miss at least the next three Premier League fixtures against Leicester City, Everton, and Wolves, as well as Villa’s first Champions League game scheduled for September 17th, 18th, or 19th.
On Instagram, Cash expressed his disappointment but vowed to return stronger. He had also been substituted late in the previous weekend’s win over West Ham as a precaution for hamstring fatigue.
Kosta Nedeljkovic replaced Cash in the Arsenal match, rather than centre-back Diego Carlos, who had been named man of the match in both encounters against Arsenal last season.
Villa missed several key opportunities against Arsenal, who scored twice in the second half with goals from Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey. Villa will now face newly-promoted Leicester City at the King Power Stadium next Saturday before the international break.
