“Leicester City Eyes Genk Star Bilal El Khannouss with Initial €20m Offer as Transfer Talks Begin”
Leicester City has reportedly made a bid to RC Genk for midfielder Bilal El Khannouss, as per Belgian sources. According to HLN Sport, the Foxes submitted an offer between €15-20 million for the Morocco international, but it was rejected. However, the bid is seen as an initial offer, and negotiations are underway between the two clubs.
El Khannouss, a 20-year-old attacking midfielder, developed through Anderlecht’s youth academy before joining Genk in 2019. He has since become a key first-team player, making 94 appearances. Last season, he played 51 games, participating in Champions League, Europa League qualifiers, and the Europa Conference League. He also represented Morocco at the Olympic Games and was a nominee for the 2023 African Young Player of the Year.
Primarily playing in an advanced central role, El Khannouss has contributed four goals and 14 assists. Over the past year, he has also attracted interest from Manchester City and Liverpool.
Currently, Leicester City has been using Facundo Buonanotte behind striker Jamie Vardy, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall now at Chelsea. Additionally, Jordan Ayew has recently joined the squad, while Bobby De Cordova-Reid, Abdul Fatawu, Kasey McAteer, and Stephy Mavididi have been playing on the wings.
