BREAKING: Ben Davies, defender for Rangers, signs a loan with an English team
Ben Davies, a defender, has signed a one-year loan with Birmingham City, effective immediately, according to confirmation from Rangers. With this move, Davies begins a new chapter in his quest to obtain significant playing time and experience in the cutthroat English League One. Best wishes for Davies were sent by Rangers, who said: “Everyone at Rangers wishes Ben well for the campaign.” After switching from Liverpool to the Light Blues two years ago, Davies has made 58 appearances.
After a difficult first 60 minutes in Rangers colors against Heart of Midlothian in the Scottish Premiership opener, the 29-year-old has seen virtually little action in the league going forward. It seemed evident that Davies was not going to play a major role in Philippe Clement’s Rangers plans, given the summer addition of Robin Propper from FC Twente, as well as the apparent superiority of John Souttar and Leon Balogun in the defensive hierarchy.
