“Tottenham Thrashes Everton as Spurs Secure First Victory of the Season”
Everton faced a second heavy defeat to begin the Premier League season, losing 3-0 to Tottenham Hotspur. Yves Bissouma scored a remarkable goal, and a mistake by Jordan Pickford allowed Heung-Min Son to score. Cristian Romero netted a header on his 100th appearance for Spurs, and Son added another goal to secure Tottenham’s first win of the season.
After a 3-0 home loss to Brighton in their opener, Sean Dyche’s team has conceded seven goals in their first two games and is at the bottom of the Premier League table without having scored.
Spurs’ first goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium came in the 14th minute when Bissouma blasted a shot from outside the box that struck the underside of the bar. Pickford then made a critical error, allowing Son to intercept a backpass and score into an empty net in the 25th minute.
Everton’s only shot on target in the first half was from substitute Jesper Lindstrom, whose attempt was saved by Guglielmo Vicario. In the second half, as Everton tried to recover, they were caught out by a corner in the 71st minute, with Romero heading in the ball to complete the scoring.
