Just Now: Wolves has now made a “very quick” offer to the title-winning defender.

A fresh player has recently been linked to Wolves, and the team has just over a week to complete its transfer business. This summer, Rodrigo Gomes, Pedro Lima, and Jorgen Strand Larsen were the three new players that Gary O’Neil brought in early.

However, the Wanderers have not played in recent weeks, and Pedro Neto and Max Kilman have both left for lucrative contracts. Before Friday, the deadline, supporters are hoping to see a few new faces apply. After Wolves and Nantes came to an agreement, it appears that defender Bastien Meupiyou will be one addition. However, Wolves are looking for a more seasoned defender to complement him.

Odilon Kossounou, a star for Bayer Leverkusen, is reportedly on the verge of being given to Wolves.

Wolves made a “unlikely” approach to sign Odilon Kossounou.

Wolves is one of the few teams that have reportedly received a bid for Bayer Leverkusen defender Odilon Kossounou, according to Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports. According to Thomas of Sky, Leverkusen must let go of Kossounou, Edmond Tapsoba, or Jonathan Tah in order to finalize a move for Sepp van den Berg of Liverpool. Kossounou has been offered to both Leicester City and Wolves, two new Premier League teams. However, a transfer is presently seen as “unlikely.”

Right now, Wolves’ attention is on other prospects, like Burnley’s Dara O’Shea. The Clarets are rumored to want to sell for about £15 million. According to Thomas, Leverkusen believes Kossounou is worth “quite a bit.” But as of right now, there is no asking price stated. The footballer Kossounou had in fact previously been associated with Wolves. Nuno Espirito Santo was rumored to be interested in the Ivory Coast international back in February 2021.

Kossounou is someone who merits consideration.

Wolves supporters should anticipate seeing Meupiyou before the deadline on Friday of next week. However, the team needs another seasoned center back, and Kossounou would be a good addition. Naturally, Leverkusen became victorious in the Bundesliga last season, and with 22 league games, Kossounou had a terrific game. In the Dfb-Pokal, which Leverkusen also won, he again scored four goals. Kossounou was absent from a few games during the previous season since he was in the Ivory Coast squad for the AFCON, where they won the championship. He participated in three tournament games.

Given that Kossounou is a league champion and has international experience, Wolves should give him some thought—though there is currently no information regarding his valuation. Simon Rolfes, the sporting director of Leverkusen, has previously hailed Kossounou as “really quick, agile, strong in the challenge and technically good” (via Bundesliga.com). It does appear, though, that O’Shea of Burnley could be the guy they should move for.
