“Targett Speaks Out: The Hardships of a Nine-Month Injury Battle and Missing Out on Key Games”
Targett, who has been sidelined for nine months, acknowledged that his time away from the field has been challenging. The 28-year-old sustained a hamstring injury last November and then suffered an Achilles tear.
“It’s been difficult,” he said to NUFC TV after making his return to the bench for the season opener against Southampton.
“Dealing with the hamstring injury required adjusting my expectations and setting return dates, which I managed to meet just before the March or April international break. But then I had the Achilles tear, which meant another setback.
The whole season has been frustrating. The start of the season was full of excitement, especially with the Champions League, and missing out on those opportunities was tough.
“It’s not a pleasant experience. You want to support your teammates and coaching staff, and it’s incredibly frustrating not being able to contribute.”
