Last season, the Brazilian international struggled with a thigh injury that kept him out for a significant part of the season and the Copa America.
This time, however, Joelinton looked nothing like the striker who once missed chances wearing the number 9 shirt after his £40m move from Hoffenheim. He stepped up for a 10-man Newcastle and took control of the game.
