Portland, which finished the previous season with a 21-61 record, will be hoping to advance its rebuild even further. The Trail Blazers have just completed their first season without their star guard, Damian Lillard, which has forced a much-needed organisational overhaul. Although Portland has some young players that offer them optimism for the future, they still need to develop more from them this year. This features the backcourt guards Shaedon Sharpe, Scoot Henderson, and Anfernee Simons.
The Trail Blazers have considered making a deal since their backcourt is rather congested. Though Simons has been the player most frequently mentioned in trade rumours, Portland won’t give up the scoring guard lightly. Portland has a crowd in the frontcourt as well. Donovan Clingan, a rookie, Robert Williams III, Duop Reath, and centre Deandre Ayton will all need to find playing time. Similar to the guards, Portland has considered making a trade of some kind to assist players receive more playing time.
This season, head coach Chauncey Billups will have his hands full since the front office needs to show progress. Although there was some conjecture that Billups might take over as Portland’s head coach during the offseason, it appears that he will be sticking around—at least for the time being. This could be his final season with the Trail Blazers as he approaches the final guaranteed year of his deal. Although Portland hasn’t won more than 33 games in his first three years, he must admit that the rosters haven’t exactly been the best in the world.
Despite the fact that the Trail Blazers are once again predicted to be a bottom-tier team, there is fresh enthusiasm surrounding the team this season. As they look to the future, all the supporters want to see is a more competitive team. It might take the Trail Blazers a minute to really start competing for a championship given their position in the competitive Western Conference. However, all any group of supporters can ask for is that the organisation demonstrates that they are making an effort to win. A former Blazers guard signs with a rival in the Western Conference.
