“Newcastle’s Almiron Eyeing MLS Return as Charlotte FC Makes Bold Move”
Miguel Almiron might be on his way out of Newcastle after nearly six years, with rumors linking him to a return to MLS. Fabrizio Romano reports that Charlotte FC has approached Newcastle about a potential move for Almiron, with their executives having met in London to discuss the transfer. However, they need to act quickly as the MLS transfer window closes in two days.
Romano also shared that Newcastle is becoming increasingly optimistic about signing Marc Guehi, having made a third bid for the Crystal Palace defender. The latest offer stands at £55 million, with additional clauses potentially raising the total to £60 million. Crystal Palace will have to make a decision soon, especially since Guehi, whose contract expires in under two years, is eager for the move.
Almiron, who joined Newcastle from Atlanta FC in January 2019, has been frequently mentioned in transfer talks recently. Although there were discussions about a move to Saudi Arabia, they have stalled due to the player’s reluctance to relocate there.
Charlotte FC, having already signed Fulham and USMNT defender Tim Ream this window, are aiming to make significant progress in MLS as they enter their third season in the league.
