“Bosun Lawal Joins Stoke City: Ambition and Opportunity Drive Transfer from Celtic”
The 21-year-old has signed a four-year contract with an English Championship club following an undisclosed fee agreement between the clubs. Lawal, an under-21 international for the Republic of Ireland, spent last season on loan at Fleetwood and was involved in Celtic’s pre-season training with the first team.
However, he has now transferred to Stoke City after being monitored by sporting director Jonathan Walters for several years. In an interview with Stoke City’s website, Lawal said, “The Club is massive, and it didn’t take much convincing for me to join.
Speaking with Glenn Whelan and Charlie Adam, who coached me for Ireland and Fleetwood, only increased my excitement about my journey here.
The ambition of the gaffer and Jon was a major factor in my decision, as they are determined to bring the Club back to the highest level. “On Saturday, I experienced the electric atmosphere in the stadium firsthand, and it was thrilling to watch.
“I can’t wait to be out there myself soon and to achieve long-term success here at Stoke City. “Stoke City’s sporting director Walters commented, “I’ve been closely following Bosun for many years. “After competing with several top clubs, we are proud to have secured his signature.
“Our ambitions are closely aligned, and we believe he has the potential to reach the top of the game. “He’s not only a fantastic addition to our squad but also a key part of our long-term vision for the Club. “We’re confident that his talent and determination will make a significant impact as we pursue our goals together.”
A statement from Celtic confirmed, “Bosun Lawal has joined Stoke City on a permanent transfer.
“Good luck, Bosun!”
This comes after Brendan Rodgers had suggested that Lawal needed to do more to break into the first team at Celtic, while also discussing potential first-team roles for Odin Thiago Holm and Lawal.
Rodgers had stated, “So I think the two boys we mentioned have talent, but I expect more… a lot more. “If you have talent, you can play in teams, but not on our team.”
