Milan’s misfortune with injuries over the past year, and even longer, has been almost laughable, with the latest setback being Sportiello’s bizarre injury. The goalkeeper sustained a hand injury just before the Rossoneri’s friendly against Manchester City, sidelining him for several months.
Given the situation, Milan had two options: either find a replacement in the transfer market or promote from the youth ranks. The latter option has gained traction, particularly with Lorenzo Torriani’s impressive preseason performances.
The alternative was Simone Scuffet, but this option appears to be fading. According to a report from Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News), Scuffet and his club, Cagliari, are not convinced by Milan’s proposal. Milan had planned to bring in the goalkeeper on loan with an increased salary, but the offer hasn’t appealed to either party, especially Scuffet, who is reluctant to give up a starting role to become a backup.
