Exclusive: Kulusevski of Chelsea and Tottenham is being considered by Newcastle for a loan-to-buy deal.
Newcastle United is considering a loan-to-buy arrangement for Noni Madueke of Chelsea.
The 22-year-old is among the club’s choices for a right winger, as was previously reported this summer. Accompanying the acquisition of a right-footed centre-back is the priority, along with an upgrade over Miguel Almiron. Although it’s widely believed that the England international may fetch a club record cost, Newcastle is already negotiating a deal for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, which would leave little money to buy a right-sided forward.
Newcastle is said to have looked into the idea of signing Madueke to a permanent contract when his first loan period ends, in order to avoid any potential problems. Chelsea may or may not consider such a deal; yet, a such arrangement was made in order to recruit Lewis Hall last summer. In addition, despite an outstanding preseason, Madueke’s playing time could be threatened by Pedro Neto, a winger for Wolves, who Chelsea is reportedly nearing a £60 million deal for.
Madueke, who competed at the U21 European Championships alongside Anthony Gordon last summer, solidified his spot in Chelsea’s starting lineup over the latter few months of the 2023–2024 season. After Mauricio Pochettino’s unexpected departure at the end of May, it’s unclear if he will be a part of incoming manager Enzo Maresca’s long-term plans. We can also disclose that Dejan Kulusevki, a winger for Spurs, is highly admired by Newcastle United.
The 24-year-old is a tall, strong, and dedicated winger with good left foot and adaptability. He checks off many boxes. He’s a terrific age—Newcastle is aggressively trying to get their current group younger—and he has a history with Alexander Isak from their days together on the Swedish national team. Although a £57 million move for Dominic Solanke would persuade Spurs to sell, he would not come cheap, and his strong preseason play will only make them more reluctant.
Player sales may be necessary in order for Newcastle to acquire the Tottenham attacker in addition to top centre-back target Marc Guehi, should they receive encouragement that a deal with Paul Mitchell’s previous team is feasible. The contracts of Kieran Trippier, Sean Longstaff, and Callum Wilson expire in the summer, so decisions must be made regarding their futures. Miguel Almiron should be let go should a new right-winger sign, and fringe players like Martin Dubravka, Matt Targett, Ryan Fraser, Isaac Hayden, and Jamal Lewis are free to depart.
